AXI PLAZA CAM RANH – WHERE LIGHT “WEAVES” THE STORY OF A COASTAL ICON

Nestled in Cam Lâm, Khánh Hòa, AXI PLAZA stands as a visual statement of the coastal spirit. Inspired by the iconic thuyền thúng (round bamboo basket boat) – a symbol of Vietnam's fishing villages – the cylindrical building is enveloped by a framework of interlaced metal and wooden slats, creating a structure that is both contemporary and deeply rooted in local vernacular aesthetics.

At AXI PLAZA, CARA’s role extends beyond providing lighting solutions; it lies in crafting a system that is highly functional while also conveying the emotional and artistic essence of the architectural design.

Tasked with highlighting the architectural contours after dark while minimizing cabling that might compromise the building’s structure, CARA proposed a strategic blend of internal ambient lighting and facade illumination. This approach allows the facade system to accentuate the building’s distinctive curves, while the interior lighting evokes the silhouette of the thuyền thúng as night falls.

To withstand the harsh coastal climate of Cam Ranh, CARA opted for WE-EF luminaires with the advanced 5CE+ corrosion protection solution - ensuring long-lasting lighting performance, preserving aesthetic integrity, and minimizing natural wear that could affect lighting efficiency.

CARA also minimized wiring and avoided interference with the building’s architectural finish by implementing a flexible wireless lighting control system. This enables operators to seamlessly integrate the facade lighting into outdoor events, creating immersive experiences while fully honoring the architect’s original vision.

At AXI PLAZA, light is not merely cast upon the building—it lives within the architecture itself. Through a combination of technical precision and deep respect for architectural identity, CARA has enabled AXI to truly shine in every sense - becoming a luminous nighttime landmark and a dynamic companion to community events, without requiring any physical alterations.
